Feature Business

This month we feature the Armidale Sports & Recreation Centre, 227 Mann Street.

Armidale Sports & Recreation Centre has some great deals for the school holidays - beginning 13 April 2006.  See what you and your family can do during the holidays.

They offer a range of activities for the individuals or teams.  See what else the Armidale Sports and Recreation Centre has to offer.

Laserball is coming soon

How to become a feature business:  put together some great deals for our readers and we will promote them for you.  Email to discuss what you have in mind and we will put something together - it's FREE!!  If  you have an objective to promote your business and give great deals to fellow readers, then put together a package that can give value to readers and we will happily promote you as a feature business.

Traineeships - If you have a new employee who has been with you for less than 3 months, you may wish to consider placing them on a Traineeship.  Traineeships can be assessed in-house and have on the job training and therefore don't require the new staff member to be away from work attending courses.  If you would like more information, visit the traineeship information page.  Some of the benefits could include:

  • possible grants

  • increased commitment

  • flexible training on or off the job

  • Nationally accredited training

  • career pathway

  • free training costs

Photo Competition:

Please submit your photos for a competition.  Include your caption.  Photos will be displayed on a dedicated armidale.info web page and anyone will be able to vote on their favourites.

Some of the prizes are

  • Photograph published in Waterfalls & Ways publication in the Spring/Summer edition

Some activities for your health and enjoyment

As we enjoy the autumn weather, it is very enticing to get out in the open air with the family and get some exercise.  There are a number of fantastic activities to support this:

Little Athletics has just concluded with presentation evening on Thursday 5 April 2006.  The Cross Country season starts on Wednesday 4 May, 4.30 pm at Moran Oval (southern end of Taylor Street)  There are three courses to choose from:  1.5km, 2.5km and 5km.  Open to everyone - you can run, jog or walk - just great for getting fresh air.  For more information, visit http://athletics.armidale.info

Armidale Triathlon Series  Go to the Triathlon page to view the results of the 2005 2006 season.  Next season starts at the end of 2006 and the site will display start dates when they have been organised.

Orienteering  These are conducted about once a month in various venues around Armidale, usually of a Sunday.  Orienteering is fantastic fun and you get to see lots of our fabulous countryside.  You get a map and off you go.  There are four levels of difficulty – blue, green, orange & red.  Visit NTOC website: http://www.armidale.info/sport.htm and click on Orienteering.  Next event:  Sunday 23 April, Boorolong Nature Reserve, full four levels of difficult orienteering - see the website for more details.

Dumaresq Dam

Basketball  Why not try basketball next term. The advantages of basketball are that the games only go for 40 minutes, they can't be washed out and it is fantastic for your fitness.  For more information check out the basketball site.  You may be interested in keeping abreast of what is happening at the new basketball stadium situated on the grounds of Armidale High School, The Den.

Bushwalking  How about seeing some of the fantastic region that Armidale has to offer.  How about a leisurely stroll around Dumaresq Dam.  A beautiful and peaceful place for a picnic, row in a boat or a swim.

Calendar

The Armidale Autumn Festival is on this weekend, starting with the Fireworks at the Creeklands on Friday night, then the Canter - fun run/walk on the Saturday (at UNE Sport and onto the creeklands) followed by Breakfast with the Bands and the Street Parade at 12.00 pm.  Have a look at some of the photos from last year

If you know of an event that isn't displayed in the Calendar, please let me know so we can update the calendar.
