Name the Bird  Congratulations to Rosemary Johnson who guessed the correct name of the bird to the right in the December newsletter, Kingfisher (Sacred).  Rosemary now receives a copy of the book, "Shark Bay - Ningaloo Coast & Outback Pathways" by local author, photographer and adventurer, Len Zell.

Len has kindly offered a copy his book "Shark Bay - Ningaloo Coast & Outback Pathways" to go in the draw as a prize for correctly naming the bird.

A competition that should suite more people - guess where the photo was taken.  This is a photo of Mount Duval.  The question is, "Where was the photo taken from".  The closest to the correct location will be the winner.  Sorry, there isn't a prize this time, but you will be mentioned in the next Ezine.  If you would like to contribute to the prizes, please let me know.

Coming up in the next Ezine will be a photo competition.  More information in February.  All photos will be displayed on the website. The competition will span over a few months so that we can get photos of many different types of things, including the seasons.  Start taking that perfect photo.

"Funny thing about horses" - congratulations to Gaylene Northey who correctly answered all the questions in the quiz.  Gaylene receives a copy of the book, Funny Thing About Horses - if you would like a copy of this humorous book, email for more information.

Traineeships - If you have a new employee who has been there less than 3 months, you may wish to consider placing them on a Traineeship.  We offer Traineeships that are assessed in-house and have on the job training and therefore don't require the new staff member to be away from work attending courses.  If you would like more information, please contact me.  Some of the benefits could include:

  • grants

  • increased commitment

  • flexible training on or off the job

  • Nationally accredited training

  • career pathway

  • free training costs

Some activities for your health and enjoyment

As we continue to enjoy the hot summer weather, it is very enticing to get out in the open air with the family and get some exercise.  There are a number of fantastic activities to support this:

Amateur Athletics have restarted their summer season.  Little Athletics will begin again on 9 February 2006. If you are interested in attending, just go along and enjoy.  For more information, visit http://athletics.armidale.info

Armidale Triathlon Series  Go to the Triathlon page to view the new season’s dates. Race 3 2005-2006 season is on Sunday 29 Jan 2006 at the TAS Pool.  Registrations between 7.45-8.30am, racing starts 9.00am.

Orienteering  These are conducted about once a month in various venues around Armidale, usually of a Sunday.  Orienteering is fantastic fun and you get to see lots of our fabulous countryside.  You get a map and off you go.  There are four levels of difficulty – blue, green, orange & red.  Visit NTOC website: http://www.armidale.info/sport.htm and click on Orienteering.

Twilight Series (February 2006 - Wednesday afternoons - for the beginners)

8 February                 Arboretum

15 February               Apex Lookout

22 February               Dumaresq Dam

Basketball  Why not try basketball this term.   Only about 8 weeks of competition to see whether you like the sport.  The advantages of basketball are that the games only go for 40 minutes, they can't be washed out and it is fantastic for your fitness.  For more information check out the basketball site.  If you have a child in Years 3 to 8, they may be interested in a Basketball Clinic being held next week (23 to 25 January) at the TAS Stadium.  For more information visit the basketball website.

Bushwalking  How about seeing some of the fantastic region that Armidale has.  Try a little rock hopping on the Gwydir River, take a small boat or just enjoy the surrounds.  A beautiful and peaceful place for a picnic and swim.

Caz Minios - for Sale - The sale has been extended. You will have to be quick to purchase this fantastic business in Armidale.  Click here to find out more information.  The price has been reduced to $69,000 and must sell soon.
