Congratulations to Paul Earle who has won the photo competition.  It was a hard fought battle with several photos being favourites of different voters.  Paul's photo will appear in the next edition of the Way to Go publication and he will receive a copy of "A Guide to the Kimberley Coast" by Len Zell, Wild Discovery Guides

Now is the time that we realise the consequences of hibernating and veging out.  Visit the weight loss page to make sure you are exactly as you want to be.

Some activities for your health and enjoyment

As we enjoy the spring weather, it is very enticing to get out in the open air with the family and get some exercise.  There are a number of fantastic activities to support this:

The Athletics season is with us again.  If you are interested in Little Athletics or Senior Athletics you can find information at http://athletics.armidale.info

Armidale Triathlon Series  Go to the Triathlon page to view the dates for the 2006 2007 season.  Next triathlon is on 12 November 2006.

Orienteering  These are conducted about once a month in various venues around Armidale, usually of a Sunday.  Orienteering is fantastic fun and you get to see lots of our fabulous countryside.  You get a map and off you go.  Visit NTOC website: http://www.armidale.info/sport.htm and click on Orienteering.  Next event:  is one of the most fun you can have orienteering.  Night Orienteering, which is on this Friday 27 October at the Armidale Archery Field (Rockvale Road) - see the website for more details.  Remember - bring a torch for each orienteerer.

Basketball  Why not try basketball. The advantages of basketball are that the games only go for 40 minutes, they can't be washed out and it is fantastic for your fitness.  For more information check out the basketball site.  You may be interested in keeping abreast of what is happening at the new basketball stadium situated on the grounds of Armidale High School, The Den.

Bushwalking  How about seeing some of the fantastic region that Armidale has to offer.  Walk around the Blue Hole - fantastic bushland, views if you are prepared to walk along the easy track - not for the faint hearted if you want to get down amongst the rocks and do some rock hopping.  A beautiful and peaceful place for a picnic. Just 15 minutes out of Armidale.  Travel along the Waterfall Way and turn into Castledoyle Road just after the speed signs changes to 100km.  Follow this road and don't turn off (when you get a fork in the Road - take the left over the ramp, along the dirt road.  You can stop at the Blue Hole and picnic there or follow the road further around to the right to find more picnic areas.

Calendar

Doing anything on 4 & 5 November?  Why not visit the Armidale St Peter's Open Gardens

There are many more events in the Calendar.  If you know of an event that isn't displayed in the Calendar, please let me know so we can update the calendar.
